Thanks Susan!
on: Jan 14, 2013, 3:00pm

I just have to take a moment to tell Susan Cain (hopefully she reads this!) how grateful I am that she wrote Quiet!! It is one of the best books I've ever read and it has truly inspired me to appreciate my introversion as well as that of others. I was especially interested to read about how our school systems focus more on the extroverted learner while often overlooking the introverted students who need less large group tasks and more lecture based individual tasks. I am also I teacher and I see this in the schools around me. This book has made me focus more on the shy and quiet learners in my class- to make sure that their needs are always met. Many introverted students truly are skilled at not drawing attention to themselves and it is easy to see (unless you pay particular attention) how they can get pushed aside while their extroverted peers are blossoming around them. When I gather up enough courage (I'm also a shy intovert) I'm going to reccommend that my fellow staff members read this book. Thank you Susan!
